As many know Nashville was our home for three years before we moved to NJ. This past weekend Nashville and the surrounding areas were hit by flash floods. Unfortunately the disaster in the Gulf Coast and the Time Square bombing have received all the media’s attention. Many people are just now hearing about the floods and the devastation that hit Middle Tennessee.

Here is a video an old co-worker of mine put together from the first two days of the flood. Also please view these photos of the devastation taken by AP photographers and the like.

Please dig deep to donate to the relief efforts. It is going to take months to repair the damage. Here are two links that are reputable (Anthony and I volunteered with HON many times while we lived there) Hands on Nashville and Cool People Care

Tide Loads for Hope trucks are coming to Nashville on Wednesday, May 12. The Tide staff will literally wash, dry, and fold clothes for our neighbors who need it. Please contact Tide at 800-879-8433 (press 0 for operator) and let them know Nashville needs Loads of Hope. The more calls they receive the bigger priority we become. I love seeing my clients grow and this gorgeous family is no different. Looking back at their family session last September blows me away. The girls are SO young (and they weren’t too mobile at the time either!). Anna and Margaret have changed even since June when we did their two year session. At 5 1/2 weeks, Lucas was an angel for me. It could be that he was up all night and just plain worn out by the time I arrived, but no matter what, we got some awesome photos of this miracle baby (they used Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture/herbs/diet changes) to overcome the infertility from PCOS and it worked!!). His beautiful momma is quite the crafty woman, knitting the hat and cocoon in the following photos. You can see some of her nursery items for sale in her etsy store.

Anthony & I are on our way back to the great state of Oklahoma today. We are both ready to see family, as its been since Christmas. Looks like its going to be HOT in the 90s the entire time.

I am currently in Nashville for the weekend visiting friends and taking these sweet girls 2 year pictures. You’ve seen them on this blog a few times since I started my business here, One Year Session, and here. We got up early this morning and headed to the Nashville Zoo. There’s an older part with a home, barn, garden and more. It was the perfect location to allow two very active 2 year olds to run around. I convinced my mom to make a few pettiskirts for this session specifically and the girls had a good time in them. I made a detour to Hobby Lobby yesterday and found parasols that were perfect. The girls loved them!

While in Nashville this past week, I had the opportunity to photograph these beautiful twin boys. They are 5 weeks old and sweet as can be. They have a very proud older brother, Andrew, who loves (may be considered borderline obsessed) the movie Cars. Thank you Bridget for allowing me to come into your home to photograph the boys.

Family Mini Session – Nashville, TN

Katie and her family were more than gracious to let me stay with them while I was in Nashville. Thankfully I had a little time and we did a little holiday family mini session last night (look at the difference a few months make -one year birthday). The mosquitoes almost ate us alive, but everyone were troopers and survived! Katie & Joey – thank you very much for opening your home to me. I love seeing you both and the girls.

I love the look on Anna’s face in this one. You’ve got to wonder what she is thinking.

Broderick 9 Months – Nashville, TN

This little one is making her 3rd appearance on the blog today. You may have seen her at 3 months and at 6 months. We celebrated 9 months today at Centennial Park. It was a nice morning and she was very cooperative until we got near dirt!

This is my favorite image from the entire session. She is totally in love with her daddy and it really shows in this one.

I met April and her family on Sunday evening at Centennial Park for a last minute photo session before our huge move. Ms. M was so excited about being silly, she even wanted some pictures with her tongue sticking out! I loved the hat and sunglasses as well. Thanks April for meeting in the dead heat of summer.

I love how you can see her actually taking in the smell of these flowers.

Summer contacted me the first of last week to do some professional pictures of her children. We were able to get together on Thursday evening at Centennial Park. Although it was sweltering, we got some great shots! Here is a sneak peek Summer.

Owen is a typical 4 year and I got lucky and got a few sweet pictures of him. But you can tell there is something else working in that brain.

I went to a good friend’s baby shower this weekend. Carrie is a very expressive individual and I’m so glad I caught some of it with my camera. I’m gonna miss her but I’ll be back at the end of September and I’m photographing Ms. ACR then. She’ll be around 2 weeks and I just can’t wait! I have a picture of the group of us who were there, but its on my P&S which I mentioned in my other post that I packed away that card reader. So I’ll come back and post the picture of us all.

Things I’m Going to Miss About Nashville

Publix Grocery Store: This is my store! I love all the specials they run (Buy 1 Get One Free) and it has everything I need. I really am going to miss you Publix!

Nashville Public Library: They have the best interlibrary system I’ve ever seen. I log into my account, find a book, request it and wait for it to come to my branch. This is revolutionary (I feel anyways). They have a huge DVD collection as well – you may be on the waitlist for half the year, but I don’t have to pay for them. I sure hope the NJ library system can compete.

St. Henry Catholic Church: This is what has made Nashville home to us. It provided Anthony with a job this past year, and we made so many friends through the Young Adult group I started. We knew practically everyone there and know we are going to start afresh.

Nashville Tri Delta Alumnae Group: These ladies also helped make Nashville home. They took me in and allowed me to flourish in this great big little city. I made more friends than I ever imagined – I will miss you Lauren, Tracy, Liz, Emily, Emily and all the rest of the young alums.

All the friends I’ve made: Katie, Megan, Kelly, Carrie, Mandy and more. I’ve enjoyed the friendships we’ve made and will miss you all. I have a picture of us from Carrie’s baby shower, but we took it with the P&S and I already packed away the cords and what not to load it onto my computer. I’m going to miss the people here too. They are mostly friendly and willing to help you out. They are very similar to what we know since we’re from Oklahoma.

Mayfield Ice Cream Sandwiches: These have become my weakness here. They make mini bars and they are just perfect right after dinner.

These girls wake up early so I got there around 7:30 in the morning. It was a perfect morning, in the 60s. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. We went over to the Catholic church right down the street to get these. These girls turn one next week, so they got dressed in their best to celebrate. Katie, here is your sneak peek!

This one makes me chuckle because they didn’t really want to be by each other during the entire session. We went back to their home and its almost like the door is dividing them.

After much coaxing, I was able to get this guy to look at the camera. We tried every trick in the book, but he hates the camera. No pictures was his mantra yesterday.
