There is nothing better than rockin’ and rollin’ at McCarter Theatre than their annual Gala on Saturday night!! It’s funny because I drive by the theatre pretty much every day as it’s basically across the street from the seminary and for the first two years we’ve lived here I wondered what that big tent on the lawn was for. I always assumed it was for Princeton University’s graduation. When Chrissy contacted me about photographing the Gala I immediately knew what the big white tent was finally for!!!

Mad props to Jimmy Duffy Catering for an incredibly delicious dinner and beautiful tent set up!

Awhile back I did a feature on Poka Yoke Design and just recently Mike, one of the co-founders, approached me about doing some headshots for speaking engagements (hence the tie and jacket) and a few more relaxed/causal photos for their website. Long are the days of stuffy, stiff, and uncomfortable commercial photos!! Here we are on a golf course.

A few weeks ago I had the absolute privilege of taking photos and hearing Liz Murray speak during the Smart Talk Women series in New Brunswick, NJ (you can hear about her work at Homeless to Harvard or in her book Breaking Night). I remember seeing her on the Oprah Show years ago, in which she was awarded the first ever Chutzpah Award, thinking what courage she had.

As she states on her website, in her book, and during her presentation, she was born to loving but drug-addicted parents in the Bronx. Although I don’t know how she lived through it all personally as I grew up in a stable environment, I do know first hand the effects of drug addiction and what it can do to families. I had tears in my eyes several times during her talk and came home immediately to check out her book from the library. What a powerful, emotional rollercoaster. Many compare it to The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls (which is another memoir about a highly dysfunctional family life!!) which I can very much see why. I highly recommend reading Breaking Night if you have a moment.

At the end of the talk, they do a Q&A with the audience. Thankfully Liz gave us an update on all those she talks about in her book. She has surrounded herself with an incredible family – they all live within 5 blocks of each other!!! In some exciting news, Liz and her husband are expecting their first baby boy this year! She is totally glowing!

As I mentioned in this post, I have the absolute privilege to be working with Smart Talk Women and State Theatre in New Brunswick for the next few months as they bring incredible women to our area. Barbara Corcoran spoke in February, and boy did I learn more than I was bargaining for when she opened her mouth. She is a street-smart businesswoman who sold her own NYC real estate company for $70 million in 2001. As a businesswoman myself, I found myself relating to her stories, about her successes, about her failures, about her drive to succeed when someone (particularly an ex-boyfriend) told her she would never be anything. Now look at her – she’s on ABC’s Shark Tank, a regular contributor to the TODAY show among other shows. Thanks Barbara for your insight, humor, and all-around splendid personality!

Elizabeth contacted me a month ago to get some professional headshots taken for job applications. Although she will have her masters in divinity in a few short months, she is looking to go into media/broadcasting.We played around with different settings from indoors to outdoors and I must say some of my favs were outdoors with the wind blowing through her hair.

The first was brilliant with the funny, witty, and beautiful Nora Ephron (writer, director, producer, blogger extraordinaire!). The last full day of the Imaging Conference, the sun finally came out! Thankfully my roomie Kelly was up for skipping some of the classes to walk along the Riverwalk and snap photos along the way! Here is a little sneak peek of her adorableness!!

I also have photos to share from a little mini session we did with Kelly’s cousin Shannon that same evening along with a family session from the next morning.

Several weeks ago I took some photos for Tiger Hall Kids (finally catching up on my blog!). Here is a small sampling of what the adorable place looks like along with a few kiddos! There is an open play time which is seriously one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard or seen. If you are needing to get your child out of the house when it’s raining/snowing/crappy weather or just want them to interact with other kids, Tiger Hall is definitely the place you need to take them!

How can you not learn in such a fun environment??

Phil is the kind of guy who loves academia. He spends his leisure time reading texts in other languages (my husband doesn’t even do that!). So it didn’t surprise me that he won an award/prize for a paper he wrote.

Phil will be putting some of his winnings towards PhD applications and visiting schools. I have no doubt he will get accepted to his top schools. Let’s hope some of that money goes to something fun too!

Katie is working on her PhD at Princeton Seminary and is frequently asked to speak at youth conferences and the like and needed some professional photos for brochures, web, etc. Here is a small sampling of this free-spirited, beautiful lady!

I spent Tuesday morning at Wild Child Yoga hanging out with some fabulous moms and dads who were practicing yoga with their babies. Wild Child Yoga recently opened in the Princeton Shopping Center off Harrison Street and is offering yoga to new moms, toddlers, children, and prenatal/postnatal women.
