snow day | princeton child photographer

February 7th, 2010

We finally got snow!!! In the close to 8 years Anthony & I have been together we’ve never gone out into snow and played. Yesterday we changed that. We slept in, made some breakfast, than layered up to brave the 8+ inches of snow to walk towards the canal behind our apartment complex. It was still snowing at this time, so I brought along the trusty point & shoot.

Anthony was the first to make a snow angel. He’s was perfect, mine not so much. I ended up getting snow in between my jacket and sweatshirt/thermals. That wasn’t fun!

After it stopped snowing (around 3), our neighbor Katrina and I braved the roads to head to campus. She got a new Nikon for Christmas and wanted to tag along on taking some snow pictures. I had to go over to get these snow pictures for the seminary for publicity. It was a win-win for both of us. The entrance gate plus Alexander Hall in the background (this was the first building on campus – use to be the entire campus!)

product feature | princeton newborn photographer

February 1st, 2010

One of my 2010 goals for my business is getting more samples of my products to show to my incredible clients. Here are a few samplings of what you can purchase (and previous clients can still order these products).

First up is a stunningly gorgeous 16×20 gallery-wrapped canvas (no framing required). The edges are 1.5 inches all around and it comes ready to hang.

This is a beautiful handcrafted leather bound coffee table album!

A wood mounted artboard ready for hanging (no framing required). These include multiple photos (typically 2-6) and come in a variety of sizes.

The 3×3 accordion album is a great product for grandparents! They can carry it around in their purse or display on their desk at work. You get to chose the leather cover and the 8 images. 3 albums are included in the price.

Last featured product is this 5×7 hinged desk plates. The photo is heat transferred onto the base and has a slight sheen to it. They are gorgeous in person!

five on friday | princeton child photographer

January 29th, 2010

I’m back this week to finish off what I made note of last week in #5.

1. I spilled some guilty musical pleasures last week, but I still have more to share! It’s been years now since I last watched American Idol (I think Carrie Underwood was the last season we watched). I had a roommate in college who was obsessed and she got us addicted to it. The top two this past year have really captured my heart from performing on Ellen. So my other two guilty pleasures include Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. Such catchy songs, even if the lyrics are awful!

2. Have you heard Ugly Betty has been canceled? It breaks my heart to see it go off the air. It’s one of only a handful of shows Anthony and I enjoy watching together because all the others have been canceled (Eli Stone and Pushing Daisies). Why does ABC do this to us?

3. I’m participating in a Biggest Loser challenge with 30+ photographers across the country and it really is pushing me. I’m participating because I need that push to get to the gym and it’s working. A link to this blog was posted and I have to say I love so many of these recipes. I think we’ve had at least one each night this week. So yummy and healthy (although I’m not sure how many weight watcher points are allowed each day).

4. I’m thinking of all my Oklahoma friends and family who are enduring a brutal ice storm right now that will potentially have snow coming today. Hoping everyone has electricity.

5. Here is a little teaser of one sample product that I think all my clients will love. I have another blog post coming of all the samples I’ve received over the past few weeks.

shannon’s shower | princeton event photographer

January 25th, 2010

Saturday afternoon Jeanie & I co-hosted a baby shower for our friend Shannon and Lucas. S + L are not finding out the sex of the baby (I’m pulling for a girl although the census is boy) so we did a green/brown theme (which is perfect because that’s sorta the colors they are sticking with for the nursery).

Some detail shots (the favors were Bath & Body Work hand sanitizer because you want to have clean hands when visiting a new baby!)

The super cute diaper cake made by Shannon C.

Opening gifts!

The entire party minus Katie who had to leave early to pick her husband up from work. Yay for the camera self timer (ignore the fact that the front row isn’t even in focus).

wine | princeton photographer

January 25th, 2010

5 years ago this June, Anthony and I took our honeymoon in the Sonoma Valley area of California. This is when we truly fell in love with wine. We came back thinking we were wine connoisseurs (ha! to think how naive we were!) and enjoy a glass occasionally. The problem for me is I love to have one glass and then a few days later have another. I’m not a huge fan of leaving white wine in the frig opened for days at a time. I think it becomes much more bitter and unpleasant.

I found a solution – Black Box wines. The last time we bought a box was in red (several years ago) and I’m not even sure they had whites yet. A few weeks ago I was browsing the wine store at my favorite grocer Wegmans and what do I see but a Pinot Grigio Black Box wine. HEAVEN! It has the right amount of sweetness and tart that I found in my pinot g’s. And so much classier to drink out of this box than the normal boxed wines.

(I apologize for all the kitchen garb in the first photo; when you have a tiny kitchen as ours is you make do!)
